    How I got saved

As a young adult I saw the movie The Thief in the Night. It scared me so bad about going to hell. I believed in God but didn't live like it and I didn't go to church for several years after my children were born. They were going to church with their dad and stepmom and prayed for Bill and I to come to church. We went to Church one Sunday after Bill had a Holy Ghost experience. The service was powerful and I could feel God speaking to me directly about some stuff that I was going through. I decided to come back the next week and we have been there ever since.

Senior Pastors

  • Valerie Smith

    Co-Pastor

    Positions at the church

Prayer Ministry Team Leader, Head of Missions

    Childhood

Grew up in Lansing, Michigan in a neighborhood where we all played “Kick the Can” and “Frankenstein” and had to be home when the street lights came on.

    Family

I live with our three beloved Shih Tzu’s, Harley, Electra and Fat Boy.  I am happy to live close to my family and attend church with them weekly.  I also enjoy spending holidays with my family.

For an extended family – I count a multitude of dearly loved spiritual children, sisters, brothers, etc. and of course my more recently birthed “cop sons” who have a special chamber of my heart that is all their own.

    Education

BA in Business and Master’s in Theology and random classes on everything in between.

    Before I was a pastor

I was a congregation member in the church where I got Spirit filled, in 5 years I was on a Pastoral Leadership Team at my next church, in another 3 years I was co-pastoring a church started with my husband, Jack Smith.

Previous jobs include a variety of sales and office jobs.  Everything from “shoes” in high school to van conversions after college.  Was an office manager at an addiction agency.  Worked at a CPA firm, advertising agency, and worked part time for a software company.

Strangest job in light of my present position – head cocktail waitress at a discotheque called “The Bus Stop” that featured a bus crashing through the wall and a lighted dance floor, like in Saturday night live.  Managed 35 other waitresses and carried huge trays for last call, without spilling a drop.  Now I am only into the “New wine” that Jesus offers.

    How I got saved

I was raised in faith in Christ – so it is not an “event” to me.  Getting Spirit filled was an event and that happened around the time I was 30 and was the most life altering event in my life.  It was the power to live for Christ.

  • Jack Smith

    Senior Pastor

    Positions at the church

    Family

Last year (2017) I have been married 20 years to my wife Valerie. I have 2 younger sisters and 1 older brother. I also have a half-brother and a half-sister and two adopted sisters as well as many spiritual sons and daughters whom I love just as much.

    Education

I have an Associates of Biblical Studies, a Bachelor of Theology and a Masters of Arts in Theology.

    Before I was a pastor

I have been and done many things but mainly I have been a Plant Manager, a Production Manager, a Youth Leader, an Associate Pastor and I have also pioneered and pastored two churches.

    How I got saved

To make a long story short. I was about to commit suicide when I heard the audible voice of God which eventually stopped me. After about a 3-hour encounter and conversation with Almighty God, I gave my life fully and wholly to Jesus Christ and that was over 33 years ago and I still gladly serve Him fully and wholly to this day.
